HPA/OVEREXPOSED…

As was mentioned previously I showed some of my photos in the recent HPA/OVEREXPOSED photography show in Ashawagh Hall, East Hampton, N.Y.

The show was wonderful! I had such a great time showing my work and meeting and seeing the work of other very talented photographers. The turn out for the event was great and I even sold one of my photos! I want to send a big THANK YOU out to Hamptons Photo Arts and Framing for sponsoring the event and Laurie Barone-Schaefer for putting the event together! Here’s a couple of photos from the event:

A Glyn Dewis Inspired Self-Portrait…

I recently discovered the work of UK photographer and retoucher, Glyn Dewis. Part of being a good photographer is always seeking out the work others have done for inspiration. Another part is using what you find and like to practice new skills to hone your own style.

Glyn does a lot of amazing work, but some of his stuff that’s most fun to me is his cartoony style portraits. So a few days ago I gave it a shot and did similarly styled self-portrait. It came out a little goofy (which is good), and my wife says scary, but I really like it nonetheless. I’d really like to do a set of these in the future with some wacky characters. What do you think?

The new Pete Labrozzi Photography Logo!
Every so often there comes a time when I feel the need to shake things up around here. As it happens, that time is now!

I’ve had a little extra time lately to put some work into the site, so it’s been slightly revamped over the old version. Mostly the changes are little fixes and pretty-ups here and there. However there has been some bigger changes, for example all new portfolio galleries. I have changed the system over to be a side-scrolling gallery with much larger image thumbnails and the ability to click on any photo to see a larger version. This is something I’m really excited about as it’s now much more user-friendly and really showcases my work nicely.

The other big change is a revamp to my logo. While the “Pete Labrozzi Photography” text remains the same, I added in an extra colorful graphical element and my new tagline which I think sums up both my photography and myself nicely; “Vibrant. Fun. Photography.”

There’s also lots of little functional changes, like the little icons on the bottom right which link to my Facebook Page, Twitter Feed, and many more. So please feel free to join me if you see the logo of your favorite social network! You can also now comment on any post using your email, Facebook or Twitter account. And share any pages or photos you like on those sites as well as Pinterest and many more.

There’s still more changes to come, but please check out the site and let me know what you think! And as always, thanks so much for stopping by!

Pete Labrozzi Photography will be appearing at New York ComicCon this year October 11th-14th! Book a session now! There will be spots open on the show floor at various times throughout the con and private on location or in-studio shoots are also available!

I’ve been hard at work lately putting together a brand new web experience and now it’s finally here. If you’ve popped by in the past few days you may have seen some parts of the new PeteLabrozzi.com coming together in the final stages. I’m happy to announce today that the site is now fully up and running, and is replacing the previous sites I had.

The new PeteLabrozzi.com is the product of a lot of thought and hard work. I wanted to create a space that better showed my photographs as well as easily informed visitors about my business, Pete Labrozzi Photography. The result, seen here today has gone above my expectations to become something I am really proud of. So please feel free to start looking around, or read on for a little history and information about the new site. Being brand new you may run into the occasional bug. If you find one, please feel free to let me know by sending me an email at plabrozzi@gmail.com.

Thank you and enjoy!

I wanted to write this post for two reasons. One is for the informational purposes of my own clients and potential print buyers, as well as anyone who stumbles across it and finds it helpful. The second is to vent a little frustration to the internet ether.

Print sizes have driven me nuts for a long time. You’re of course used to the standards: 3.5×5, 4×6, 5×7, 8×10 and 11×14 among others. And therein lies the problem. These sizes have become the “standards” that everyone knows and in which mattes and frames are most readily available for purchase. You probably also think of these sizes as a logical progression of smaller to larger, depending on the size of the print you want.

What you may not know is that this isn’t exactly the case. See, print sizes are about ratios, and the ratios of these different standard sizes vary greatly from each other.

Reviews!Hi everyone and happy new year! I aim to be better about blogging in the new year and I have lots and lots of examples from shoots to post here soon! So keep your eyes peeled!

I love getting reviews on my work! They are helpful for future clients and can help me to improve how I can help you! In my line of work, word of mouth is so important. In the past that meant friends and family suggesting photographers like me to each other. Of course, these days, everything is digital!

You can usually find and leave reviews for me online on Yelp, but today I’ve also made a change to my website to allow the reading of reviews there too! As of now, all of my Yelp reviews can be found in the new “Reviews” section. You can find this new section at the following link:

http://photography.petelabrozzi.com/index.php?show=reviews

As time goes on I’ll hopefully be adding some more from WeddingWire and anything personally mailed to me as well!

If you’ve reviewed my business, I want to thank you again for the kind words! It means a lot to me to be able to get feedback from those of you I’ve worked with so I can learn and improve for the next time.

If you have worked with me before but haven’t left a review, you can feel free to review me now! The two sites I am focusing on are Yelp and WeddingWire. Here are links to my profile on both of those:

Yelp:

WeddingWire:
http://www.weddingwire.com/reviews/pete-labrozzi-photography-new-york/48d2f92cbabeb314.html

Any reviews left there are easily found by people searching the web and will help immensely in growing my brand and business. If you like you can also email me any questions, comments or criticisms you may have. I’m easily reached at plabrozzi at gmail dot com (sorry for the odd spelling but I’m trying to avoid spammers!).

Anyway, thank you all and I look forward to making 2012 an amazing year!

So if you are one of the wonderful new people who is inquiring about my services or are ready to book, I just wanted to let you know that I will get to you shortly! I am answering questions in the order they were received, so if you are wondering why I am MIA, know that I have most likely read your email or heard your voice-mail and am doing my best to catch up to it!

As the title says, the Pete Labrozzi Media and Photography eNewsletter is back. I disabled it for a while because it seemed to be having a lot of problems. Hopefully with several new updates installed it should be working fine again.

If you already subscribe to the newsletter and would like to change your preferences or opt-out, look at the bottom of any emails you receive for the “Manage your subscriptions” link. You can also change your options by heading over to the Pete Labrozzi Media and Photography blog (petelabrozzi.com). On the right sidebar click “Log in” and proceed either using your login information or by using your social media icon. Once you’re logged in you’ll see a link on the left called, “Your Subscriptions”. Clicking that will bring you to a page where you can change your newsletter frequency or opt-out entirely.

If you aren’t currently subscribed to the newsletter and would like to receive it, you can either register on the site, at which time you’ll be asked if you’d like to receive emails. Or use the quick eNewsletter sign-up form on the right side of the blog by entering your email address and name and hitting the Subscribe button. I do suggest registering for the site though, because you’ll also be able to post comments on articles and manage a profile that way!

If you’re having any problems with the newsletter like receiving multiple copies at the same time, please email me and let me know at plabrozzi@gmail.com.

Pete Labrozzi Media and Photography LogoIf you’ve popped by my website since yesterday, you’ll have noticed that things are looking a bit different! That’s because PeteLabrozzi.com is now a landing page for several facets of my business!

I started my business back in 2010 as Pete Labrozzi Media, a full service digital media provider. The strongest portion of what I’ve done since then has definitely been my photography. I’ve taken to calling that wing of the business, Pete Labrozzi Photography.

At some point in-between I created a new mini-site specifically for wedding photography (weddings.petelabrozzi.com). I thought it would be a helpful place for brides and grooms to go and see just what it was they were looking for without searching through the rest of my extensive portfolio first! That worked out incredibly well, but something was still missing.

The truth is that my photography end of the business accounts for so much of what I do that it got too big for its britches. I decided it really needed its own place separate of the ‘Media’ portion of my site.

Hence, photography.petelabrozzi.com was born. as well as media.petelabrozzi.com. Linking all three together is the classic PeteLabrozzi.com. PeteLabrozzi.com now serves as an entry portal to all three sites, making it easier for you to find what it is you’re looking for. media.petelabrozzi.com is now the classic version of PeteLabrozzi.com, which will be updated with more examples of graphic design, web design and more over time.

And the all new photography.petelabrozzi.com serves as the site it always should have been. It contains my current portfolio and is well set up for future additions. It’s also easier to navigate than ever before.

So check out the new sites and updates and let me know what you think! Enjoy!

Just wanted to drop a quick note about an update to the Pete Labrozzi Photography Weddings site. I added a new Frequently Asked Questions section to help make more information about my services readily available.

I don’t have too much to say about it that I haven’t said in it, so head on over and check it out! If you have any other general questions you think I missed, let me know and I may add them! Thanks!

Pete Labrozzi Photography Weddings – FAQ

P.S. Of note: the picture you’ll see on the new FAQ page is a lovely lady named Rachel who I recently photographed when her fiancé, Adam, proposed to her. Look out for a blog post about them soon!

Celebrating Marriage Equality in New York Contest Winner!

A few weeks ago I launched a contest in honor of New York legalizing gay marriage. Today I am happy to announce a winner for that contest! Before I do so however, I wanted to say a few thank you’s.

Foremost to the couples who entered this contest. Thank you for checking out my photography and sharing the contest info around. I wish I could have reached more couples but for the few who joined, your stories were inspirational and I wish you all the luck in the world.

Second to Rafflecopter who kindly allowed me use of their fantastic new contest service that made running this contest as easy and fun as possible. I will definitely hold more contests in the future thanks to this great software. It made it not only easy for me to set up the contest, but for visitors of the site to participate with as much ease as possible.

Now on to the good stuff!

ExpoDiscI recently won a nifty little tool called an ExpoDisc from a contest held by For the Love Workshop (http://fortheloveworkshop.com/). Made by a company called ExpoImaging (http://www.expoimaging.com/), the purpose of this tool is to give you an accurate white balance for your shots in the form of a 77mm filter.

Typically when white balancing, you’ll use a white balance card to get an accurate temperature or your camera’s auto white balance for a quicker, but sometimes less accurate, result.

Celebrating Marriage Equality in New York ContestHi everyone! Recently I have been feeling extra proud to be a born and raised New Yorker. As many of you know by now, New York recently became the 6th state to pass a bill legalizing gay marriage.

While I myself am not gay, I have many friends and even relatives who are and have always shared their feelings on the inequality of barring their rights to marry whoever it is they love. In my opinion, love is love, and no one should be treated any differently based on anything from the color of their skin to their sexual orientation.

So with that in mind I am offering a contest in celebration of this historical legislature. I am offering a wedding photography package to one lucky couple. The contest is open to all couples, gay and straight alike and will run from today through July 24th. A winner will be randomly chosen and announced on July 25th to coincide with the first day marriage licenses will be made available to gay couples here in New York.

Graphic Design Section UpdateI’ve been working so hard lately on updates to the site that I forgot to tell you about them!

Specifically I’ve been working away on the Graphic Design section for once, and am happy to announce that two new categories are available there now. The new “Web Ads” and “Flash Animation” sections house loads of new examples of work I’ve done in those respective areas.

Web Ads is launching with 50 still and animated gif banners and tile ads of various sizes that were all requested for use on various web pages. The Flash Animation section is launching with 8 large Flash banners that were made as headers for a medical publishing and communications company showcasing several of their divisions and publications.

There is a lot more to come but enjoy the new sections. And if you’re looking for someone to do some graphic design work for you or your company, then contact me today!

PeteLabrozzi.com Mobile Site Preview on an iPadHello everyone,
This is just a quick note to let you know about a new website feature, a mobile version of the site!

For some time I’ve been unhappy about the experience mobile users were forced into on my site. That plus the fact that there has been a ton of mobile traffic as of late!

Now given, unlike a lot of other photographer’s sites I’ve come across while browsing on my iPhone or iPad, PeteLabrozzi.com has always had all the important content available to those using mobile devices that don’t have flash (all of them). I had put together simple galleries where it basically just printed out all the photos as thumbnails on the page and you could click them one by one or view them in a lightbox. You still can. But I wanted something better!

So I set out to create an entirely iPhone and iPad friendly version of the site. I’m happy to report it’s now finished. Now that’s not to leave out the Blackberry or Windows phone users, among others. I simply don’t have access to those devices to test it on, but as I understand it, it should work just fine on a lot of your devices as well. If not, you can always view the full version of the site by using the link at the bottom of all the mobile site’s pages. You can also drop me a line here to let me know if it’s working for you or not.

The best part is to access it takes no extra steps on your part. It’s set up to automatically re-direct all mobile users just by typing in the normal, “www.petelabrozzi.com“.

Enjoy and thanks for stopping by!

Pete Labrozzi Photography Signpost April DealThis is NOT an April fools joke! But it is an April deal!

Pete Labrozzi Photography Weddings New SiteThere have been two big updates to petelabrozzi.com that I thought I’d take a moment to mention.

The first is a biggie, and honestly a little bit of old news. About 2 months or so ago I launched a weddings specific portion of the site at weddings.petelabrozzi.com. It focuses solely on my wedding photography and includes information about services and more.

I wanted to make a single source for all things “Wedding” as wedding photography is a big portion of what Pete Labrozzi Media and Pete Labrozzi Photography is focused on.

So if you haven’t already pop over to weddings.petelabrozzi.com and check it out!

New Pete Labrozzi Photography Fashion Photography Section

The second update is the addition of a fashion photography section to the site. It can be found under the photography section in events/fashion. You can also find it by clicking this link:
http://petelabrozzi.com/index.php?show=photography&type=fashion

The fashion section will be for live runway events and other fashion related photos. You’ll also notice that both the weddings and fashion flash galleries have been updated to a new format. I think it’s more fun and displays the photography better than the old viewer. Expect updates to the existing viewers to this format soon.

Jordan C. HearterYesterday I posted the first part of a personal project chronicling the places I grew up around in my home town of Sag Harbor, NY. In that post I mentioned that I was leaving one special photograph out so that I could give it the proper respect of not just being lumped in with the others.

Back in April of 2008 a young man from Sag Harbor bravely gave his own life to save the lives of others. His name was Jordan Haerter and he is a true American hero. Jordan was a Marine who was serving in Iraq at the time, and along with another fellow Marine, managed to stop a truck carrying an IED before it could take the lives of countless other Marines and Iraqi Police.

I never knew Jordan sadly. But coming from a small town, you feel a kinship to this type of person. While I never had the experience of personally meeting him, I have plenty of family and friends who did. When I learned that the Sag Harbor bridge was being renamed in his honor I thought that there was no better way to respect our town’s fallen hero.
